Stabbing At Henrico High School Prompts Lockdown
According to Henrico County Police, around 10:00 Tuesday morning a School Resource Officer at Henrico High School responded to a fight in a classroom. Police say During the fight a 16-year-old student produced what investigators descibed as a "sharp object" and stabbed a 17-year-old student in the torso. The 17-year-old was taken to VCU Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries and, as of Thursday afternoon, was in stable condition. The 16-year-old was taken into police custody and transported to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hanover County for treatment of minor injuries.
Police say the school was placed in lockdown "so as not to effect the overall student population" and to allow investigators to process the scene. Authorities say an investigation into the stabbing is ongoing and, depending on the outcome of the investigation, charges may be pending.
