3 Things You Need To Know 3-2-10
1. NATIONAL HATE GROUP COMES TO RICHMOND
An anti-gay, anti-Semitic hate-group called the Westboro Baptist Church will be coming to Richmond today. The organization, who also pickets soldier funerals, is planning to rally at several places here in Richmond today. Police and security are already in place for those locations and it's estimated there may be about a thousand protesters of the group from about 20 gay/lesbian and faith groups will hold an "anti-hate" rally outside the VCU Student Commons at 1:30 p.m.
2. BACHELOR SEASON FINALE
If you missed the final rose ceremony and conclusion of the Bachelor last night, Jake ended up proposing to villain Vienna. Vienna is also one of the most hated winners in the show's history, as most fans couldn't stand that the former stripper cleaned out her husband's bank account to get a boob job while he was serving in Iraq.
3. SIRENS TO AIR DOWNTOWN TODAY
If you're in downtown Richmond today, don't panic when you hear sirens blasting through the city. Today is when VCU is participating in a tornado preparedness exercises. In addition to the loud blasts this morning, you may also see fake "victims" positioned on Park Plaza of the Monroe Park campus. The exercise is part of the statewide effort to prepare Virginia for tornadoes, since we had 16 hit the state last year.
